Who we are
South Flowers is a Cannabis Harm Reduction Association licensed in Malta under number 007, based in Fgura. We grow sungrown cannabis in a greenhouse, in coco coir, for our own members — a multicultural, young and passionate collective bound by love for the plant.
The association
South Flowers was founded in 2023 and licensed as Cannabis Harm Reduction Association 007. Like every association in Malta we are non-profit: we do not sell to the public, we do not advertise, and any contribution from members goes back into cultivation, testing and running the association.
We are the Mavericks and the free spirits, the home growers who waited their turn to step into the sunlight. Our roots are simple: respect the plant, respect each other. We listen to the seasons, move with patience, and celebrate the quiet rituals. The sea breeze runs through everything we do; it keeps us humble and awake.
How we grow: sungrown, not indoor
Most cannabis associations grow indoors under artificial light. We do not. South Flowers cultivates in a greenhouse under the Mediterranean sun, with plants rooted in coco coir and fed by fresh air and natural light. Sunlight is the largest single input in our process, and it is free, renewable, and impossible to reproduce exactly with lamps.
Growing this way means accepting the seasons instead of overriding them. It asks for patience and for attention to the plant rather than to a schedule. In exchange it gives a plant that developed the way it evolved to develop, and a far smaller energy footprint than an indoor room.
Every step matters: from seed to harvest, trimming to packaging, quality is our constant. We believe consistency is respect — for the plant, for our members, and for the craft.
Testing and quality
Every strain and every batch is tested before it reaches a member. Samples are taken under a procedure approved by the Authority and analysed by an independent, certified laboratory in Malta. They check the cannabinoid profile of each strain, and they screen for everything you don’t want: moulds and bacteria, mycotoxins, heavy metals, foreign material, moisture that’s out of range.
Every result goes straight to the Authority as well as to us, and a batch only goes out once it’s certified for release. If it doesn’t pass, it doesn’t go out — no exceptions. That’s the real difference between us and the black market: here, you know exactly what you’re using. And if you’d like to see the tests for the batch you’re collecting, just ask at the club — we’ll happily show you.
Harm reduction
Harm reduction isn’t small print on our licence — it’s the whole idea. Cannabis carries risks; anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something. Nobody at South Flowers earns more if you consume more, and it shows in how we work: clean, tested flower, clear information, and people you can actually talk to about your own use — whether that’s picking a lighter strain or cutting back. We’d rather have that conversation than avoid it.
Where to find us
We are at Triq San Tumas 268, Fgura FGR 1609, Malta, open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 13:00. Membership is open to Maltese residents aged 18 and over; all places are currently taken, but you can join the waiting list.
